2012 - 2014

Marfa, TX

In 2009, Marianne Stockebrand opened Tienda M as a curated shop selling Mexican textiles and crafts, locally made pottery, and other dry goods with a focus on natural materials and the handmade. dosa was carried early on since the store’s inception. In September 2012, Marianne passed the shop on to Christina Kim, who carries forward with her friend’s original vision. Tienda M remains a local mercantile and gift shop of sorts, honoring the spirit of Marfa by offering beautifully crafted goods made in collaboration with local artists and vendors. These specially made items, such as leather goods from Big Bend Saddlery; accessories painted by artist Sam Schonzeit; Mimi y Roberto pottery from Alpine, Texas; and Ginger Griffice’s Marfa Brand handmade soaps are shown alongside dosa clothing and housewares and traditional Oaxacan handmade goods. Tienda M and its collection reflect a minimalist sensibility in keeping with Donald Judd and the town he helped flourish.
